Perth is a cosmopolitan city with great shopping, world-class wineries, and tantalizing cuisine. There's plenty going on for visitors, with shops, restaurants, theatres, bars and museums dotted throughout the city.
A great place to start is Kings Park just to the west of the city centre. Grab a picnic lunch and explore the 1000-acre parklands with natural bush and wildlife all around. With views over Perth and the Swan River, it's the perfect vantage point to get your bearings of Perth and the surrounding area.
Head down to the trendy café and bar districts of Subiaco and Leederville for some al fresco dining and hip bars and nightlife.
Just 5 minutes from Mantra on Murray is Barrack Jetty where you can catch a ferry over to beautiful Rottnest Island. With over 60 unspoilt beaches, some great snorkelling spots, friendly quokkas and views out over the Indian Ocean, Rottnest Island is one of Perth's leading attractions, and a great family day out.
Just to the south of Perth, the historic port city of Fremantle is another great day trip, just a short boat, train or bus ride from Perth city centre. Browse through the markets and take in all the historical architecture that lends Freo its character.
