Babymoon at Peppers Noosa

by Carly McDonagh - These Sonny Days

Last week we packed our new American Tourister luggage and headed for the Sunshine Coast. With so much happening lately with moving house, renovations and busy work schedules we felt we really just needed to take a moment to breathe before our precious little bundle arrived. The beautiful team at Peppers Noosa Resort and Villas were more than happy to accommodate us and we were so grateful to be welcomed to stay there as it is known as one of the prime spots to stay in Noosa and I can now see why!

We arrived just after lunch and were greeted by the most lovely staff member on the front desk who made us feel very welcome. We were shown to our room which was a 2 bedroom apartment nestled amongst the trees. We had Sonny with us and he is now in his own room so we wanted to keep that routine going and not risk him jumping in our bed, so he had his own room while we were there which was great. We originally had Sonny babysat with family so we could enjoy a break without him but plans changed and we ended up bringing him along. It was so nice to have him there with us as I'm sure we would have missed him (hence why we only booked our stay for 2 nights!) but at the same time he didn't allow us to have as much relaxation or downtime. Either way it was so nice to get away and have a break from our routine and share this special time together as a family of three before we become four.

Once we were settled in to our room we walked down to Hastings Street, which is only 500m down the road. The resort is positioned on a slight hill, so Peppers do offer buggy rides to assist if needed. I figured I could do with the exercise so we walked. We had a walk along the beach and a look at a few shops before heading back to our apartment for a swim in the pool at Sunset. The pool is magnificent and had a shallow kids area which Sonny loved playing in. It was the perfect end to our first day. We then went back to the room and ordered pizza and ice-cream. I would have loved to have headed up to the bar for a drink, but you know, mum/pregnant life. The bar seemed to be buzzing with people and had a really good vibe. Maybe next time :)

The next day we were up early with Sonny so we headed straight up to the buffet breakfast. We were one of the first ones there and basically had it to ourselves which was great because it meant I could go up for seconds, and thirds.. okay, AND fourths. The food was delicious and fresh and there was so much variety. I'm one of those people that can never choose between the pancakes or the eggs on toast, so I love buffets because I can have a bit of both! The buffet is seriously a pregnant woman's dream! After breakfast we went for a walk along Noosa Headland and down to the Main Street again where we got a smoothie and had a look around before heading back to the resort for another swim. We then put Sonny down for his day nap which he luckily took to and my husband and I layed in bed and ordered room service. It's our one and only time during the day to properly relax so we made the most of it the best way you can when you're on holidays. Later that afternoon we walked back down to Hastings Street for a play on the beach with Sonny before we went out for dinner.

The next morning was our last morning there and Sonny had been up since quite early in the morning, so we enjoyed our final buffet breakfast and had one last swim, before we packed up and headed back home. It's such a nice easy drive to the Gold Coast and we decided we should really come up to stay more often!

We came back feeling very refreshed from our little break and we had so much fun reconnecting as a family. It's so easy to get stuck into a routine at home and the everyday running of a household that sometimes we forget to take time out for each other. That's what I love about holidays, you free your mind from everything else going on in your life and you focus on your loved ones. Even if you can't afford to take a lot of time off work, just a few days away really does wonders for not only yourself, but your relationship. We are now finalising a few things around the home and feeling ready to meet our newest family member very soon!
